Collaborative Community

The Health and Migration Collaborative Community has been created by a team of researchers and practitioners based at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance. Located in the south of the Netherlands, Maastricht University’s Graduate School of Governance (MGSoG) is a higher-education institute that champions operational, policy-relevant studies and evaluations. With ample experience conducting data collection and analysis around the world, MGSoG combines research and education to support the public sector in designing and implementing development-friendly policy. The MGSoG builds on the academic resources of the different faculties at Maastricht University as well as those of its international partners. The MGSoG is embedded not only within the Maastricht University system but is also integrated within the United Nations University-MERIT (UNU-MERIT), one of the institutions within the United Nations University system that focuses on unlocking development through technology and innovation.

A core thematic cluster within the School of Governance and UNU-MERIT is the Migration and Development Research Group, the team behind the migration and health portal. The research group focuses on supporting better evidence-based migration and development policy through research, education, and participation in global policy fora and consultations. The Migration and Development Research Group is supported in its migration and health work through the networks to which it belongs, including the Maastricht Centre for Citizenship, Migration, and Development (MACIMIDE), the Maastricht Centre for Global Health (MC4GH), and the UNU Migration Network.
